Answer engine optimization for independent personal-lines agencies
Home and Auto Insurance Agency AEO: Get an Independent Agent Into the AI Answer
Ask an AI for car insurance in your town and it names national carriers, because the carriers have a page for every question and the independent agency down the street has a homepage and a quote button. We build the county pages, on public hazard and vehicle data, that put an independent agent into the answer.
From $247/month, published pricing below
A home and auto AEO agency makes your website one of the sources an AI engine names when someone in your county asks a home, auto, renters or umbrella question. Personal-lines questions are local and event-driven, so the build is county answer pages on FEMA, NOAA and NHTSA public data, tied to the Google Business Profile the engines already trust, with structured data (schema markup) they can parse, open access for the AI crawlers, and a quote tool an agent can call. Strategic AI Architects was founded by Mike Moore, a licensed producer, and runs this build on its own insurance sites.
AEO, GEO (generative engine optimization) and AI SEO describe the same work. We say AEO because the shopper asked a question, and the question is what you have to win.
Why personal-lines questions are different
Nobody wakes up wanting an auto policy. Something happens: a storm, a teenager with a permit, a closing date, a claim. The question goes to an AI the same day, and it is about that event in that place.
"What do I do after the hail storm" is asked the afternoon of the storm. A FEMA major disaster declaration changes what a homeowners claim looks like, and FEMA designated individual assistance in 16 major disasters in 2026 through late August. A county page that explains what the declaration means for a claim is the page the engine cites that week.
"Car insurance near me" resolves to a county. The engine then looks for a source that answers at that level: what moves rates in that state, which carriers write there, what the county's storm and flood history looks like. National carriers answer nationally. A county page answers locally.
"HO-3 vs HO-5," "replacement cost vs actual cash value," "full coverage vs liability only." These are the questions an agent answers at the kitchen table. On most agency websites they are answered nowhere, which is why a carrier's glossary page gets the citation.

Why home and auto is its own problem
The data is public, the entity is local, and the carriers already have the generic answer
Hazard and vehicle data makes a county page citable
FEMA publishes every disaster declaration and flood zone. NOAA publishes storm reports and alerts by county. NHTSA publishes recalls and safety ratings by vehicle. The Census publishes housing and vehicle counts. Our data engine pulls all of it, and every figure on a county page carries Dataset schema naming the source and its exact URL. A carrier's national page cannot say what happened in your county last spring. Yours can, with the source.
Your Google Business Profile is the entity the engines already trust
For a local question the engines lean on local entities, and the profile is the record Google already has for your agency. We tie every county page to it with matching name, address and service area, Organization schema with sameAs links, and reviews on the page, so the engine connects the page it is reading to the business it already knows.
Google Business Profile and AI Overviews · the map packState rules and state insurance departments change the answer
Minimum auto limits, no-fault rules, hurricane and wind deductibles, and state insurance department advertising rules all differ by state. A page that gives one answer for everyone is wrong somewhere. We build the state-specific version where the rule differs, which is also how the engine matches the state in the question.
What we build
The home and auto AEO build, component by component
County answer pages for the event and comparison questions
After-the-storm, teen driver, new home, after-an-accident, home office and short-term rental, umbrella, HO-3 versus HO-5, replacement cost versus actual cash value. One question per page, the answer in the first two sentences, your county's hazard and vehicle data cited, the state rule named.
Four pieces of structured data an engine can verify
Service or Article schema with organization-level authorship and sameAs links to your Google Business Profile (who published this). FAQPage schema for every question block (what it answers). Dataset schema naming the FEMA, NOAA, NHTSA or Census source behind each figure (where the number is from). And llms.txt plus WebMCP, below (how a machine reads and uses the site).
Open the door to AI crawlers, then tell them where to look
We check robots.txt and the firewall for GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, ClaudeBot, Google-Extended and Bingbot, fix the managed rules that block them silently, and publish an llms.txt, a plain-text index at your site's root that tells AI crawlers which pages answer which questions.
Which AI crawlers to allow · What llms.txt isWebMCP: a quote request an AI agent can call
WebMCP is a published list of tools on your site that an AI agent can run, not just read: a manifest at /.well-known/mcp.json and an /mcp endpoint that expose your auto and home quote request as callable functions. We run this in production on our own sites, including this one.
What WebMCP isThe speed floor every citation depends on
We ran PageSpeed on 1,080 insurance agency websites and found a median mobile score of 61. Our builds measure 99 to 100 on mobile, because a page that fails Core Web Vitals is a page the engines deprioritize before they read a word.

Home and auto AEO vs home and auto SEO
| What matters | Personal-lines SEO | Personal-lines AEO |
|---|---|---|
| What you compete for | A map-pack spot and a position under the carriers | One sentence inside the AI answer to a county question, plus the citation |
| Unit of content | "Auto insurance [city]" landing page | One event or comparison question, for one county, answered in the first two sentences |
| Data | Carrier logos | FEMA, NOAA, NHTSA and Census figures with Dataset schema naming the source |
| Entity | Google Business Profile, managed separately | Profile tied to every page through schema, address and reviews |
| Crawler access | Googlebot only | GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, ClaudeBot, Google-Extended, Bingbot |
| Machine access | None | llms.txt and a callable WebMCP quote request |
| How you measure it | Rank tracking | Citation tracking across engines, Search Console, Bing conversational queries |
The foundation is shared: fast pages, clean HTML, real content. SEO still matters, and our builds rank. AEO is what makes the same page citable.
